The area of California real estate now known as Yorba Linda was first recognized by this name in 1907. The Janss Investment Company purchased a section of land originally known as the Rancho Canon de Santa Ana. This parcel of California real estate, 

which was comprised of more than 13,000 acres, had been granted to Bernardo Yorba by the Mexican governor, Jose Figueroa in the 1830's. Janss purchased this property from the Yorba family, which still owns much of the land today. The company intended to use this property for agriculture and manufacturing, and they were the first to call the town Yorba Linda. The portion of the land purchased by the Janss Investment Company experienced great growth throughout the early 20th century. 

Yorba Linda is located in the northeastern section of Orange County, which is in the Southern California coastal region. It is an affluent city that is situated approximately 25 miles southeast of Los Angeles and 95 miles north of San Diego. It is within close proximity to attractions such as Angel Stadium, Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, the San Bernardino Mountains, and the San Gabriel Mountains. Since the city is within an hour of these mountain ranges, there are many opportunities for outdoor recreation such as hiking, camping, and skiing. Yorba Linda is also known for its 30 horse trails.
